Privacy Policy

Cactus helps users manage distracting apps, block distracting websites, and build healthier usage habits. This policy explains the information Cactus may process to provide app blocking, website blocking, progress tracking, account, and subscription features.

Information we collect

Depending on the features you use, Cactus may process account identifiers, Google Sign-In profile information such as email address, subscription status, app usage summaries, selected apps or app groups, selected websites or domains, blocking rules, focus progress, Cactus Logs, permission status, and local app settings.

How information is used

Cactus uses this information to sign you in, apply app and website blocking rules, show your progress, restore saved app state, manage Pro access, troubleshoot account deletion, and keep core app behavior working across app restarts.

Android permissions

Cactus may ask for these Android permissions and system accesses when needed:

• Usage Access: helps Cactus read app usage, identify installed apps, calculate usage limits, and decide when an app rule should apply.
• Accessibility Service: helps Cactus detect the currently opened app and show blocking protection for apps you selected. Cactus does not use Accessibility Service to read private message content or typed text.
• VPN permission: used for website blocking. Cactus may create a local VPN service on the device to route DNS or web requests needed to block selected websites or domains. This is used to apply your website rules, not to provide a general internet VPN.
• Notification and foreground service permissions: help Cactus keep active blocking rules running and show required status notifications.
• Overlay permission: helps Cactus display a blocking screen or protection experience over selected apps when a rule is active.
• Boot/startup permissions: help Cactus restart or refresh blocking rules after your device restarts.
• Internet access: supports sign-in, account sync, subscription checks, purchase restore, and other online features.
• Billing permission: supports Google Play purchases and subscriptions.

Website blocking and VPN service

When you enable website blocking, Cactus uses Android's VPN service capability to help block websites or domains selected in your rules. The VPN service is part of Cactus's blocking feature and may process domain or connection information required to decide whether a website should be blocked. Website blocking may not work unless the VPN permission is granted and the service remains active.

Third-party services

The app code uses Supabase for authentication, account data, progress backup and restore, sync, and account deletion; Google Sign-In for account login; RevenueCat for purchases, subscriptions, customer information, paywalls, and restore purchases; and Google Play Billing for Android purchases.

Data storage and retention

Some settings and usage-related records are stored locally on your device. Signed-in account, progress, subscription, and synced app data may be stored with Supabase or processed by RevenueCat where needed. Cactus keeps this information while your account or app data is active, unless deletion, platform requirements, legal obligations, or backup retention rules require a different period.

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscription purchases are handled through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat. Cactus uses purchase and entitlement information to decide whether Pro features are active. Payment details are handled by the store and payment providers, not directly by Cactus.

User choices

You can choose which apps and rules to create, change Android permissions in system settings, sign out of the app, restore purchases, and request account deletion from inside Cactus where the feature is available.

Children's privacy

Cactus is not intended for children who are not allowed to use the app under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Cactus, contact support through the app so the issue can be reviewed.

Security

Cactus uses service providers and platform controls intended to protect account and app data. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
